Current RH Obsessions: Accessories
The onset of bitterly cold weather brings about a nesting feeling, one that keeps your tush at home to play dress up and get experimental with hearty recipes whenever possible. Currently, my latest obsession has been with velvet bows worn in the hair. It has a precociously seductive air to it, especially as I had recently witnessed a mother and her daughters sporting matching styles at the Nutcracker Ballet at The Kennedy Center. Much to my chagrin, black velvet against black hair doesn’t have the same effect, but plush options like an ivory satin or tulle has a similar effect. My best suggestion to get the look is to buy a thick velvet ribbon off of amazon. 2-3” should be wide enough depending on your hair type!
Other dreamy concoctions are indiciative of my current status: very. much. pregnant. I’ve been dreaming of our little one and who s/he will be upon arrival. But more amusingly, I’ve been looking at nursery-inspo and am just taken with the neutral colored hues and anything resembling a teddy bear in general. This alongside a constant search for fun plates and glasses (melanine preferred, due to slippery fingers of my 7 year old Caius!) in order to liven up our kitchen. Lastly, I cannot recommend enough the memoir/cook book Farm From Home by ex-Barneys fashion directior Amanda Brooks. Sometimes I feel like I’m reading my own journal, but its an comforting read especially for city girls who have relocated to rural areas.
