Every Time Martha Stewart Was Struck by Lightning
“If it doesn’t kill you, I think it’s good for you.” What can’t Martha Stewart survive? Stewart surprised viewers of The Ellen DeGeneres Show by revealing that she’d been struck by lightning—not once or twice but three times! When asked how it felt, she admitted that it was “horrible.”
The first time, she was leaning against an iron sink, where the lightning caught onto a pipe in her garden outside, then struck her through the faucet. Afterwards, her ex-husband Andrew found her on the floor. “I was alive but not very comfortable.”
Another time, it came through a skylight in her house. “I just attract electricity,” she joked. “I’m so powerful.” Indeed, she is! We wonder how it went the third time.
Despite “attracting electricity,” Stewart recalls spending time away from electricity and running water altogether at her first house in the Berkshires of Middlefield, Massachusetts. “When we got there, the house was bitterly cold. We lit fires in the fireplace, the potbellied stove, and the Glenwood cook range.”
