Our 4 Simple Rules of Table Setting
A table setting sets the tone for a meal shared amongst friends, family and colleagues and it is important to make an appropriate and impressive impression. A table setting can be equated to manners and respect. Just as we sit at the dining table and wait for everyone to be seated to begin our meal, and place our napkin in our lap, it is also important to know how to set your table.
Recreational Habits 4 Simple Rules
Forks to the left of the plate, knives and spoons to the right.
Silverware should be placed from the outside in toward the plate in the order of when they will be used. i.e. Salad fork will be placed furthest from the plate on the left, then the dinner fork. The same goes for on the right side of the plate, with knives and the sharp side facing inward. The spoons, should you be using spoons during your meal, will be to the right of your knife.
Napkin is placed in the center of the place setting or on top of the plate placed in the middle.
Glassware; a water glass and wine glass should be placed on the upper right-hand corner of the setting.
While the RH Rules may serve as a framework for the basics of a table, there’s so much more to creativity that you can add into your setting for a little touch of glamour. For more inspiration, take a look at these picture worthy tables below.
