As the tennis grand slam season comes to an end for 2021 with a fabulous women’s final at the US Open featuring 2 teenagers, both of Asian descent, Emma Raducanu and Laylah Fernandez, we were searching ways to keep up the tennis spirits until the Australian Open, scheduled for January 2022. There are plenty of ways to stay connected to tennis such as playing yourself, sporting ‘tenniscore’ fashion a la Recreational Habits Summer 2021 collection which you can shop here, and via scent.

You know how you can be strutting down the street or walking into a kitchen and an aroma instantly takes you back to a particular moment in time? Scents are directly linked to the most primitive parts of our brain and is the most powerful human sense that we process. It is incredible for memory recall and can evoke robust feelings of nostalgia and emotion, and affect our moods. It is likely that your mother wears a particular perfume, and your father a specific cologne, and you might even have a signature scent for yourself but at RH we like to rotate our perfumes as the seasons change.

Deciding which perfume you would like to purchase can be a bit of a daunting task, as it is a costly expense and one that is very personal to yourself, but we suggest wandering into a Penhaligon’s, the United Kingdom’s premiere perfume house, founded in the 1860’s. Princess Diana wore their Bluebell scent regularly and it is the Queen of England’s preferred perfumer. As we say, if it is good enough for the Queen it is certainly good enough for us mere peasants, but in celebration of Emma Raducanu, who is British we want to highlight not only Penhaligon’s, but one of their newest unisex scents in their lineup, Racquets

“Tenacious, uplifting, invigorating – and that’s before one steps onto the court. Bright, bouncing lemon doubles up with strapping leather in this sparkling eau de parfum. Do try and be a good sport.” - Penhaligon’s

Penhaligon’s Racquets scent will transport you right back to the summer afternoons you spent on the tennis court, before you played a few sets and got all sweaty. Don’t worry this will not make you smell like you just played a match at Wimbledon, but as if you wrapped your racquet with a new leather grip, opened a fresh tube of tennis balls, and are playing on a beautiful groomed court with newly cut grass surrounding it.
