Not Your Mother’s Pearls

It is time to dust off your Grandmother’s pearls that are in a box stuffed deep into your closet and integrate them into your fashion rotation. No longer reserved for the country clubs and first ladies, this classic gemstone is having a major comeback and this season we are modernizing the iconic jewel that hails from the sea.

Historically, pearls have been a sign of power, wealth, and royalty, often worn by Princess Diana, Michelle Obama, Jackie Kennedy, Coco Chanel and many other fabulous women. Rumor has it, Cleopatra crushed and drank a pearl to impress Marc Anthony in what is referred to as the most expensive dinner in history, and of course, how could we not mention the infamous painting by Johannes Vermeer, Girl with the Pearl Earring (please image see below). With such a rich history, we are reimagining the gemstone to fit into our 2020 style.
