Cartier was founded in Paris during 1847 by Lousi-Francois Cartier, and is regarded as one of the most sophisticated and prestigious jewellery companies in the world, and has been considered the ‘jeweller of kings and the king of jewellers’. In 1903 Cartier released their first wrist watch that was inspired by and named after Alberto Santos-Dumont, a leading force in aviation at the time. In 1912 Cartier launched two more models, Baignoire and Tortue and by 1917 the infamous Tank model which is a model commonly worn by the leading ladies below.
