6 Undiscovered Ski Resorts to Escape the Crowds

One of our favorite yearly trips to take is the one that lets us ski, snuggle, and sip on some goodies. We long for the days where we can color coordinate our ski outfits, practice our carving (there is always room for improvement!) and indulge in heavy chalet food that gets repurposed on our early morning slope runs. The beauty of these trips has always been the time to focus on our families and ourselves. We love the memories we’ve created because we avoid large crowds and the scenic shuffle of New York birds who fly on the Hamptons, Miami, Aspen route.

Aspen is great, don’t get us wrong, but Aspen was even more amazing twenty years ago before everyone and their sister began escaping there. We just want to ski, and not waste our days on the line for the chairlift with the ski and be seen crowds.

There are few things more gorgeous or fabulous than the top of a mountain after a fresh snowstorm or kicking off your day on the slopes with a groomed corduroy run, so spend your winter doing one of our favorite, and socially distant, activities at a beautiful resort where you’ll be (hopefully!) left alone.

The six mountains we have listed below are under the radar but have some of the most amazing snow to be skied in North America, and you can even see the Northern Lights from one of them.

Best of all, you will have the mountain to all yourself while everyone else is bumping into their frenemie on the chairlift line in Park City.
